That would be the best word to describe Milton 4-star WR CJ Wiley’s decision in the latest turn of his college recruitment.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound wideout had zagged to FSU this summer when most of the recruiting industry thought he would zig to join Georgia’s 2025 class.
Wiley’s pulled another stunner.
The Milton High wideout made a surprise commitment to Georgia football this evening. Wiley had just recently decommitted from FSU.
That came after a recent weekend visit to Texas A&M for the program’s big home win against LSU. The timing of that move led many to believe that the Aggies were the team to beat.
It was the right species, but just the wrong Dawg.
Wiley now gives the Bulldogs five receivers in the 2025 class in Athens.
He also joins 5-star WR Talyn Taylor as a strong pair of Top 100 wideouts in this year’s class. Taylor ranks as the nation’s No. 29 overall prospect in the 2025 class on the 247Sports Composite. He already has caught 20 touchdown passes among his 52 catches this fall.
This decision means so many things for the 2025 class in Athens.
It is a big win for Georgia.
It is a big win for Georgia’s future quarterbacks.
It is a big boost for Georgia’s chances of finishing with the nation’s top-rated recruiting class for the second straight cycle.
It is a very big win for Kirby Smart and receivers coach James Coley. In less than one year’s worth of recruiting for the Dawgs again, the former offensive coordinator has not just restocked the room to fill the holes from an expected loss of up to six receivers from the fall roster.
