Arsenal in talks for Premier League striker who wants more than £150k p/w on a five-year deal

It is well known that Arsenal is looking for a center-forward who can practically guarantee goals.

Gabriel Jesus clearly understands where the goal is, but an out-and-out striker who plays off the last defender’s shoulder, has outstanding technical ability, and has a respectable track record in front of goal would be ideal for the Gunners.

Ivan Toney of Brentford has been mentioned in reports, but it’s thought that Mikel Arteta isn’t entirely sold on the player. According to a source close to the club, there are “doubts” from the Spaniard’s point of view because of Toney’s image and present situation, according to Football Transfers.

Transfers have exclusively revealed that Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is being talked about.

The site reports that former Arsenal player Paolo Vernazza, the player’s agent, and Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, are in talks over the potential of Watkins, a confirmed fan, signing a five-year contract with the team. It is thought that the player wants more than £150,000 per week.

At 27 years of age, the player is in a footballer’s supposed ‘peak’ years and would be another astute signing for the north Londoners, particularly if they’re still flying high at the top of the Premier League table.
