Plantar fasciitis plagued Kristaps Porzingis during the NBA offseason, but the Latvian power forward is now fully recovered in time for his debut campaign with the Boston Celtics. To make sure his injury would heal correctly, Porzingis decided against competing in the World Cup.
Porzingis highlighted the state of his injuries and his healing process at his Media Day press conference. He disclosed that, going into the season, he feels excellent and has no physical restrictions. John Karalis, an NBA journalist, claims that by boycotting the World Cup, his foot was able to heal completely.
“Medical staff did a great job of loading up slowly, and now that I’m getting close to training camp, I’m perfectly fine; ready to go,” Porzingis said in his presser. “I think it started because I changed shoes during the summer. I think that’s what got the foot a little bit sensitive … The smart decision was to sit out and ensure the foot recovers before the start of the season.”
“He’s played and worked out every day for the last two weeks,” Stevens said.
NBA INJURY NEWS & RUMORS: Kristaps Porzingis & Boston Celtics Updates
While it allowed his plantar fasciitis to heal, Porzingis’ decision to miss the World Cup required a huge emotional sacrifice.
Being unable to represent my country at the World Cup was a huge disappointment for Porzingis. Really wounded my spirit… but I was certain that it was the best choice. I’m glad I made that difficult choice at that precise time. I am now ready to begin the season at full strength.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown should have a lot less to worry about if Porzingis stays healthy. His special combination of abilities might make the Celtics an impossible opponent for teams from the Eastern Conference. Tatum discussed the value Porzingis will bring to the table with NBC Sports Boston.
“I think he just adds another dynamic of versatility,” Tatum remarked. He can stretch the floor with his height. We haven’t necessarily had a player with his height and offensive skill set, in my opinion. I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on our team.
Updates on Kristaps Porzingis and the Boston Celtics’ injuries from the NBA
It goes without saying that Porzingis is absolutely committed to helping Boston win the championship. The 7-foot-3 center thought about his new group and the challenging objectives they have set.
“Adding myself and Jrue at this time… It’s obvious what we’re attempting to accomplish here,” said Porzingis. That is the only objective. Every day, we must lead that life.
Porzingis turned out offers to go somewhere where he might have had a greater role and contract in favor of Beantown. Porzingis should be highly motivated as the upcoming season approaches because his foot is now fully recovered and his squad is prepared to contend for a title.
