Aston Villa linked striker agrees personal terms with Roma

Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive brings you the reported interest in Santos striker Marcos Leonardo

Aston Villa-linked striker Marco Leonardo has agreed personal terms with AS Roma as both parties await Santos’ decision.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Brazilian’s future is set to be decided this week after the Brazilian club received an offer for his services. Talks between the parties have since progressed and a decision is expected soon.

Villa and Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest, though are not thought to have made any official approach. Leonardo is under contract until 2026 and has a release clause of €100million, claims Brazilian outlet Globo.

Although Roma’s bid is unknown, the 20-year-old is claimed to have agreed personal terms with Roma. However, it is Santos who will have the final say as both parties await for a “definitive response.”

Villa have shown their intent ahead of the new season with the big-money signing of Pau Torres, and the canny free signing of Youri Tielemans.

There’s also the small matter of a European campaign as Villa prepare to battle with other teams from abroad.

The aim is simple, to finish the highest they have done for some time in the Premier League, and to compete for trophies.

There are exciting visions on and off the field at Villa and this season is the perfect time to realise some of the club’s ambitions.
