Aston Villa ‘give up’ on target after falling £30m short of valuation as former Wolves star linked with rivals

The latest Aston Villa transfer news and Wolves transfer news headlines with the new Premier League season just two weeks away from kicking off.

It’s almost August which means the new Premier League season is almost here and that there is just over one month remaining in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa kick off their 2023/24 campaign away to Newcastle United while Wolves head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. Meanwhile, both clubs continue to be active in the window with Unai Emery’s side currently being linked with a former Molineux favourite.

However, the Villains have seemingly given up on another transfer target with reports claiming that they were some way off of the player’s valuation. Here are the latest Aston Villa and Wolves transfer rumours on Saturday, July 29:

Aston Villa give up on Goncalves

According to Portuguese publication Record, Aston Villa have given up on trying to sign Sporting CP winger Pedro Goncalves this summer. It is reported that Villa were willing to pay €45 million – which is around £38.7 million.

However, that is considerably short of Sporting’s €80 million valuation of the player. The Primeira Liga club recently negotiated a deal to buy-out the 40% sell on fee that was originally part of the former Wolves player’s 2020 move from Famalicão.
