As the Collingwood Magpies prepare for their Week Nine Indigenous Round match against Carlton at Victoria Park this Sunday, Head of High-Performance Mathew Pell has shared the latest updates on player injuries and recoveries.

Recent Injuries

Eliza James has entered the AFL concussion protocols following a head injury sustained during last week’s match against the Crows. The 21-year-old will undergo the necessary recovery steps as she adheres to the protocols.

Charlotte Blair is making notable progress in her recovery from a lower leg bone stress injury. Currently utilizing a moon boot for support, the 20-year-old has recently begun cross-training and is optimistic about resuming play in 2025.

Grace Campbell, unfortunately, will miss the remainder of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season due to a hip injury. The 27-year-old will start a de-load phase as medical staff conduct further evaluations to decide on her next steps.

Rehabilitation Progress

Bri Davey, the team captain, is showing promising signs in her recovery from a left tibia bone stress injury. The midfielder is set to begin an intensive rehabilitation program to prepare for the upcoming off-season.

Kalinda Howarth is advancing in her recovery from an ACL injury. The 25-year-old is concentrating on improving her quad strength and is nearing the end of her rehabilitation, with a potential return anticipated in two to four weeks.

Mikayla Hyde is also on the mend from a foot injury. This week marks her transition to full ground ball activities and training drills. The 21-year-old is scheduled to participate in a scrimmage this weekend and is expected to return in one to two weeks.

Other Updates

Selena Karlson has encountered a pause in her rehabilitation program following a medical recommendation to rest for the remainder of the season.

Annie Lee is diligently working on her knee rehabilitation. The 21-year-old will meet with her surgeon later this week to outline her next steps in recovery.

Nell Morris-Dalton has recently integrated new exercises into her rehabilitation program. The 23-year-old has begun cross-training and is looking forward to a return in 2025.

As the team navigates through injuries, the focus remains on recovery and readiness as they prepare for their upcoming match against Carlton.
