Jonathan Panzo Rangers deal off, Aberdeen close in on James McGarry and Hearts’ Vargas wait
The business goes on but our Premiership clubs are being forced through the wringer
Hearts have been through the wringer this summer when it comes to Steven Naismith and Frankie McAvoy getting new signings in the door.
There’s been plenty of targets with their net cast far and wide but so many deals and options have fell through or come to nothing. The latest in their long line of players on that list is Kenneth Vargas and a move is close to being signed and sealed. It’s not certain how long the Costa Rican forward’s visas and paperwork will be sent through and that could mean the Jambos waiting around once again.
Japanese Kyosuke Tagawa is also close to being done but, again, they play the waiting game. The Jam Tarts are in the hunt for a new right-back, too, and they’ll do their due diligence on that in the coming weeks.
Rangers, meanwhile, are no longer in the hunt for defender Jonathan Panzo, Football Scotland understands. A source down south has confirmed to us that – despite Michael Beale meeting the player and his family earlier this summer – no terms were agreed upon and now the Light Blues have moved on. There is not believed to be any defensive moves imminent as they wait on Jose Cifuentes’ deal being rubber-stamped this week.
Aberdeen are on the verge of signing left-back James McGarry of Central Coast Mariners. The Dons have always needed cover on that flank and the New Zealand defender will provide that. It should be a deal done this week.
On the other end it could be farewell for Ylber Ramadani as Lecce have now had a £1.1million bid accepted for the midfielder.
Dominik Livakovic is still on Celtic’s radar as they seek a new goalkeeper while Tete is not.
Dundee signed Trevor Carson from St Mirren today as St Johnstone are on the brink of bringing in Oludare Olufunwa.
