Maryland’s OWINGS MILLS

Justin Tucker is headed for his worst statistical season to date with five missed kicks this season. Due to his problems this season, he has dropped below 90% for his career and is no longer the leader in kicking accuracy all-time.

Ravens Fans: What's going on with Ravens Justin Tucker?

He has had trouble making long field goals; of his four misses, four were on tries longer than fifty yards. Compared to his NFL record-setting 66 yards in 2021, he has only gotten 50 yards this season. Although Tucker is regarded as the greatest NFL kicker of all time, should Ravens supporters be worried about their eight-time All-Pro player?

After the game, Tucker took ownership of his most recent mistake, a 44-yard field goal against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“In the end, that is my responsibility. I need to deliver the kick. I’ve been playing for a long enough time to understand how to make every single kick in every single situation.”
Team maintains their confidence
Despite the miss, the Ravens have complete faith in Tucker to help them pull off the victory over the Chargers. Because the play clock was running short, head coach John Harbaugh said that the squad hurried on the field goal miss.

He was hurried through that one. Throughout the entire game, he made a lot of hasty field goals. I’m not going to defend him. That was something he would never tolerate. He’ll tell you that no matter what, he needs to create them. Harbaugh stated, “We can’t afford to call a timeout there.”
Chris Horton, the special teams coordinator for the Ravens, stated that part of Tucker’s problems this season may be attributed to the coaching staff.

It’s not a theme or a trend, in my opinion. Like I mentioned earlier, I believe every kick is unique. Since every circumstance is unique, I believe that the fundamental question is… Our blocks were here,” remarked Horton. “I still think we have the greatest kicker in football, that I can tell you, and we’ll put him out there whenever we need him or whenever we say so, so I think we’re going to be OK.”
