First Tennessee visit 'an exciting experience' for in-state WR target

A Memphis, Tennessee, Class of 2025 wide receiver made his first trip to Tennessee to watch the Vols play Georgia. Potential QBs Jeff Lebby could be the target
Who will start as quarterback for Mississippi State moving forward?

A lot of fans are wondering who Mississippi State’s next quarterback will be. That is a good question to ask. Lebby already mentioned that he is looking for a quarterback that can get things done with his feet and arm. So, we do know that the next quarterback is going to be a mobile guy with a good intelligence of the game. I am not an expert, nor has anybody gave me any accurate information on the subject at hand. These are only thoughts of who I think could possibly end up Mississippi State’s next quarterback. Chris Parson is a guy that we know Lebby likes, but Parson still has some growing to do as a quarterback. He recruited Mike Wright when he was at UCF, but Lebby knows he has to have a proven quarterback and not a guy that he is going to have to spend most of the offseason developing.

Will Howard is a possible fit for Mississippi State’s new offense under Jeff Lebby. Howard entered the transfer portal yesterday. He is a 6-foot-5, 242-pound quarterback that has a very strong arm. He committed to Kansas State in June of 2019, and he signed his letter of intent in December of 2019. He is not a 4.5 guy, but he runs a 4.83 in the 40-yard dash. That is good enough for him to be able to escape the pocket and make some things happen with his feet when there are no receivers open. This past season he had, 2,643 passing yards, 24 TDs, 10 interceptions. His overall QB rating was 75.5 and 20th in the nation.

Dillon Gabriel is another name that could be of interest. It was reported that he lingered around on the field after their latest victory over TCU. He even gave some reporters his thoughts on his future.

“I think I’ve just got to trust God and be present. Take it day by day, because as everyone knows, one day something can happen, and then it can be super different. So, I’m just trusting it all.”

Things are definitely different now that Jeff Lebby is the 36th head coach in Mississippi State’s history.

Coming out of high school, Gabriel had an 86-rating landing him as a three-star. His 247-transfer portal rating was a 92-rating landing him as a four-star when he came out of UCF. When Lebby left UCF, Gabriel also decommitted from. In 2018, he had a 4.44 shuttle time, and a 4.94 40-yard dash time. This past season he had 3,260 yards, 27 TDs, and only 5 interceptions. If he decides to join the transfer portal, I think this will be Lebby’s number one guy. That is only my opinion.

Another name that is starting to buzz around the next Mississippi State quarterback talk is Arch Manning. If he does decide to hit the transfer portal, he too will be an option that I think Jeff Lebby is going to explore. Manning has not proven himself yet, so this option may be not as good as the other two options. Gabriel and Howard are both guys who have already proven themselves on the college level. Going with Manning could possibly be a toss up.
