USC Football: It’s going to be juicy!Head Coach of Arizona Fires Shots at Former Wildcats and Trojans

We’re about three hours and some change from the start of USC’s fourth Pac-12 matchup against the Arizona Wildcats. This will be the last time they’ll face the Wildcats in a long time, as they’ll also be transitioning out of the Pac-12 and into the Big 12. Last season, the Wildcats put up a fight at Tuscon in late October, and they’ll look to do the same but with a different result. Arizona, who sits at 3-2, will have some fire in their belly as they will face three former players who now play at USC: defensive lineman Kyon Barrs, cornerback Christian Roland-Wallace, and receiver Dorian Singer.

The three spent multiple years at Arizona under the tutelage of head coach Jedd Fisch. With the transfer portal in full effect, it’s inevitable that top players will want to leave for better situations; that happened to be the case with Singer, Barr, and Roland-Wallace. It’s not personal; it’s business. However, that’s not how Fisch views it, as he had some choice words when discussing his former players and the matchup against the Trojans.

“Decisions were made at the end of the season by certain players,” Fisch told reporters on Thursday, as captured by the Tuscon Star’s Justin Spears. “Decisions were made by the staff, decisions were made by the program, and we don’t get into why people transferred and whether people were encouraged or discouraged to transfer … we don’t need to get caught up in the emotions of playing former players.”

“But, there is certainly – it’s personal,” Fisch continued later. “And the team understands that.”

If a war is what they want, then a war is what they’ll get. When a player faces his former team, whether because he chose to leave or they didn’t want him anymore, you know they always want to show out. I don’t expect it to be any different with the three Trojans mentioned earlier.

This game just got juicer, and with Roland-Wallace and Singer likely to play significant roles, best believe they will do all they can to put it on the Wildcat.
