According to a report, the Philadelphia Eagles attempted a blockbuster trade for Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

The NFL’s most loaded rosters belong to the Philadelphia Eagles. But, they would have added Patrick Surtain II, the top cornerback for the Denver Broncos, to make it even better if general manager Howie Roseman had his way at the trade deadline on Halloween.

Eagles Tried To Make Huge Trade For Broncos Star Patrick Surtain

That’s according to a source that Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentioned. ESPN’s Adam Schefter stated earlier on Sunday that the 49ers from San Francisco were keeping an eye on Surtain II.

According to a person with knowledge of the matter, the 49ers and Eagles looked into dealing for Surtain.

Both of them were worried that the other might wind up with Surtain as they called the Broncos.

But it was not to be, as the Broncos demanded a significant haul in exchange for him. According to Florio, Surtain “checks every box” for the Broncos.

his would’ve been the biggest trade made at the trade deadline by a good margin. Simply put, Surtain II is a stud, like his father was during his playing days.

The 23-year-old was named a first-team All-Pro at one of the league’s most valued positions at just 22 in his second season last year. The Alabama alum hasn’t quite been as good this year, but he’s still an elite player at a position where true difference makers are few and far between.

But, the Broncos understandably wanted a ton of assets back if they were going to give up Surtain II. After all, the ninth-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is still just 23 years old, and is already an elite player at his position.

Ultimately, the Eagles stood pat right at the deadline, while the 49ers made a blockbuster move for former Commanders defensive end Chase Young.
