Emory Williams, Tyler Van Dyke’s backup, will start for the Miami Hurricanes against Florida State.
Against Miami’s fiercest opponents, the true freshman quarterback will receive his second career start as quarterback.

Throughout the week, Miami reportedly split their first team quarterback reps between Tyler Van Dyke and Emory Williams.

Shortly before kickoff against the Florida State Seminoles, reports around the country confirmed that Williams will get the start.

Ten interceptions have been thrown by Van Dyke in his last four games. During Miami’s 20-6 loss against NC State last week, he fumbled the ball and turned it over three times for interceptions.

Williams, meanwhile, has made four appearances thus far this season. His lone start came in Miami’s victory over Clemson in double overtime. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns and an interception in the game. Even though he had a fairly simple game plan the entire time, he produced several clutch throws in the fourth quarter to help Miami overturn a ten-point deficit.

Williams will burn his red jersey for the seventh time this year on Saturday. With a strong chance of starting for Miami full-time the next season, he may make a lot of experience in these final four games.

Florida State vs. Miami kickoff is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
