Three players were cut by the Cats, including GF forward Sam Simpson and father-son Osca Riccardi of Geelong. They have been notified that they will not be offered contracts for the upcoming season.

Sam Simpson, a player in the 2020 Grand Final, and Osca Riccardi, a young couple, have both been delisted by GEELONG.

After joining the team in 2017, Simpson appeared in three finals for the Cats in 2020, including the Grand Final loss to Richmond. This year, he managed six games.

While Riccardi, the son of former Cat Peter, did not play a senior game after being picked last year, Whyte, who was selected in 2021, played his first senior game as a substitute against Carlton in round two this year.

Delistings come after the retirements of Jon Ceglar and Isaac Smith, as well as midfielder Sam Menegola.

“During their tenure at the Club, all three players have demonstrated the Geelong values and been excellent teammates,” Geelong list manager Andrew Mackie said.

“We extend our gratitude to Sam, Cooper, and Osca for their hard work throughout their tenure at Geelong and wish them continued success. They will still have the Club’s backing both on and off the field.”
