BREAKING NEWS: Cody Gakpo will miss the rest of the season after Liverpool revealed that he is injured..

Cody Gakpo sustained an injury at Tottenham, and while Liverpool are awaiting the results of a scan, it is anticipated that he will be sidelined for about six weeks.

Gakpo left London on Saturday night with a knee brace after being hurt by a rough tackle from Spurs full-back Destiny Udogie.

The Liverpool striker was forced off the field at halftime after Udogie’s lunging tackle caught his ankle and severely torn it as his body went the other way.

Although the Dutchman initially continued playing and equalized soon before halftime, Jurgen Klopp said after the game that he “possibly” had a serious injury after seeing him “limping down the corridor.”

While it is hoped that after inspections on Sunday and into the next week, Gakpo will have averted any significant harm.

However, injury expert @physioscout has expressed “concern for [an] MCL sprain,” meaning that there is a significant likelihood that the No. 18 will be forced to take a timeout.

According to the description, the “ankle was forced into external rotation, stressing the medial knee,” and “[wearing] a brace typically indicates grade 2/3 injury” while there is “ankle concern too.”

For grade 1, recovery typically takes one to two weeks, for grade 2, it takes three to six weeks, and for grade 3, it takes six to eight weeks.

Therefore, if an injury is confirmed, it is anticipated that Gakpo will miss somewhere between four and six weeks of action.

That would undoubtedly be a huge setback for Liverpool, as Klopp has recently utilized his team’s considerable depth through rotation.

On Saturday, Gakpo made his sixth start of the season and netted his third goal, giving him two goals in the past four days and three in the past two weeks.

It will put further strain on Darwin Nunez, who Klopp disclosed is dealing with a “little bone” issue sustained with Uruguay, if he is sidelined.

Diogo Jota, the Reds’ second center striker option, received a red card for two bookable offenses, which resulted in a one-game Premier League suspension.
