Heung-min Son respectful of the way Harry Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich

Son understands why Kane made the move and wishes him nothing but the best at Bayern.

Heung-min Son and Harry Kane have been one of the Premier League’s most productive goal-scoring duos. During their time together at Tottenham, the pair combined for a slew of goals, but Kane has gone on to a new chapter of his career at Bayern Munich, where he has already found the back of the net three times in the Bundesliga. In total, the pair has combined 47 times in the Premier League, with the next best coupling trailing them with 36, a la Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba during their time together at Chelsea.

Spurs have won twice and drew once in the Premier League since Kane’s departure, scoring two goals in each of their first three games. They were already knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Fulham in a penalty shootout, but they’ve shown no symptoms of being unable to score goals without Kane.

While Kane did not receive an official testimonial or ‘good bye’ match, Heung-min Son understands why Kane opted to leave to Bayern and the manner in which he did it; there is no ill blood. “Harry clearly moved in a good way.” We have to respect that, both as a club and as individuals. We wish him the best of luck, and I hope he wins everything he deserves. “I’m sure he wishes us the best as well,” the South Korean international added (via @iMiaSanMia).

Son faced a similar summer in 2021, when he was extensively connected with a move to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but it was also during that summer that Son signed a new contract with Tottenham, pledging his future to the club. He was willing to stay regardless of what Kane’s future held, and he was able to play with him for another two seasons before leaving for Bayern this summer.
