The German national team have been on a steady decline since winning the World Cup in 2014. They were knocked out from the group stages of the following two editions of the tournament and have not been much better in EUROs either. And now, they find themselves in search of a new manager after Hansi Flick was shown the exit door. Interestingly, a Real Madrid legend is being linked with the job.

When Flick was appointed, there were hopes that he would be the one to revitalise the German national team after a superb stint with Bayern Munich that saw him win seven trophies in a season-and-a-half. That clearly did not happen.

On the contrary, the German national team has never seemed weaker. They have lost four of their last five games.

After a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Japan, he was sacked. The German national team now need to appoint a suitable manager to get things back on track. As reported by Madrid Universal, BILD has identified Zinedine Zidane as one of the options to take over from Flick.

A Real Madrid icon might manage Germany going forward.
Zidane has so far only had success leading Real Madrid. The Frenchman had two separate runs as Santiago Bernabeu’s manager, each of which resulted in victory for the team, including the illustrious Champions League triple.

Since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, Zidane has not been able to find a new team. Furthermore, it is obvious that he will only accept a job if it interests him.

It is tough to imagine it being the Germany job right now. Without a doubt, they have some fairly good talents. However, if recent results are any indication, it would be challenging for any manager to quickly reverse their fortunes.
