Tottenham confirm surprise transfer after deadline day as Ange Postecoglou wish granted
Tottenham transfer news as the club confirm a late summer move for an academy graduate following deadline day.
Tottenham have confirmed an agreement has been reached with League One side Stevenage for the permanent transfer of academy graduate Harvey White.
White was part of Ange Postecoglou’s pre-season side over the summer but hadn’t been involved in the senior side in any of the opening three games of the new league campaign and didn’t get the nod against Fulham in the Carabao Cup either.
The 21-year-old played three times for the first team having joined the academy as a youngster. His Premier League debut came earlier this year away to Crystal Palace but it was in the youth set-up as a versatile midfielder that he made his name.
White spent the second half of last season out on loan at Derby, featuring 15 times for the Rams and has also spent time at Portsmouth as well in a bid to build professional experience.
The deal, confirmed on Saturday, one day after a dramatic deadline day for Spurs, is expected to be the final piece of business for Postecoglou and was greeted with a message from Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace.
“We’ve seen a lot of Harvey over the years with Spurs U21s playing at The Lamex Stadium, and we’re delighted to conclude this late deal to join us on a permanent transfer,” he said.

White follows Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga and Djed Spence in a late window departure from north London whilst it was a frustrating day in general for the club. There had been hopes of finding new clubs for Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Davinson Sanchez with the added chance of bringing in further reinforcements at the back and in midfield.
As it ended, Spurs were only able to complete the addition of Brennan Johnson after getting their priority move over the line.
