Everton transfer news as Harrison Reed update emerges before deadline
Fulham have dug in to keep hold of midfielder Harrison Reed despite interest from both Everton and Wolves in signing him before the transfer deadline, according to Nizaar Kinsella.
The Evening Standard journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that, while any incoming deals at Craven Cottage feel quiet as things stand, they have made sure to hold on to their midfield ace.
This news comes following the breakdown in talks between Bayern and the West London club over a deal for Joao Palhinha after the German transfer window closed before the deal could be reached [Fabrizio Romano].
Fulham standing firm
Despite Everton’s interest in signing Reed as the transfer deadline rapidly approaches, Fulham have stood firm in their plans not to sell one of their key players, despite the news that they will also be keeping Palhinha at the club, in a successful day for the West London club.
For Everton, it is a shame that they have missed out on a new midfield recruit. With Alex Iwobi set to move in the other direction and join Fulham before the deadline, they will be missing his presence in the centre of the park, where he played so well last season.

Iwobi had been starting on the wing so far this season due to injuries and a lack of depth out wide, but there is no doubt that his best performances at Goodison Park came from a more central position. Losing him is a blow to the Merseyside club as they lacked depth even before his departure.
Reed’s technical ability and confidence in possession would have been a useful asset to Sean Dyche’s side. He is able to keep possession while bringing his teammates into play, making his job look simple while also creating attacking chances with his passing range.
