Leeds United exploring new targets as £10m talks continue to falter away from Elland Road – Sky Sports

Leeds United are said to be already exploring other options as they continue to wait on the green light from Genk and their winger Joseph Paintsil over a move.

The Whites have a lot of work to do in the remaining three-and-a-half days of the transfer window, despite already seeing the fruits of their labour with bringing in Joel Piroe.

More is needed in the midfield and at full-back, but the club are still in the market for an attacker as well.

The club have been hot on the tail of Genk winger Joseph Paintsil, with The Athletic revealing the club are willing to pay up to £10million to sign him this week.

A hold-up has seen the club not been able to reach an agreement at player or club level as of yet, with Paintsil still in discussions with his club over financial matters.

Sky Sports reporter expects Liverpool to 'go into the market again'

Now, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth is reporting that the Whites have not yet given up on signing the Ghana international, but are keeping their options open.

He reveals that the player wants to join Leeds, but terms over an exit from the Belgian club are the cause of the delay in an agreement – meanwhile, Leeds are looking at other targets:

The club seem to be patient when it comes to Paintsil, knowing that they likely have someone else to be looking at, if things go south.

However, the fact we have been willing to pay up to £10million to sign the winger suggests he’s a signing Daniel Farke is very keen on.

He would be a very dangerous signing for us to bring in, in terms of how deadly our current attack already looks in the Championship.

Hopefully, we see closure one way or another in the coming hours, rather than days
