Martín did a good job staying focused—he almost crashed twice but kept his composure, which isn’t easy when a title is on the line.”
Despite the challenges, Bagnaia admits that his current position offers a certain level of clarity. “When you’re chasing and your only option is to win, it simplifies things mentally. That’s the situation I find myself in now, and it’s similar to when I had to recover from a 91-point deficit in 2022. Back then, I had no choice but to give my absolute best, and I’m taking the same approach now. It’s easier to stay calm because there’s no room for overthinking.”
However, Bagnaia’s honesty revealed a touch of envy toward Martín’s position as the leader. “I feel better mentally this time around, but I can’t deny that I’m jealous of him. I’d love to be in his shoes, with the advantage he has. Still, all I can do is focus on my performance and see how the chips fall.”
