Fremantle has recently updated its roster, announcing the delisting of players Tom Emmett, Odin Jones, and Max Knobel. This move is part of the club’s annual review process as they finalize their player list for the upcoming season.

Tom Emmett, who was selected with Pick 41 in the 2022 National Draft, has been informed that he will not be offered a contract for 2025. During his time with the Dockers, he played a total of 15 games, showcasing his skills as a pressure forward. However, the addition of Shai Bolton and upcoming draft picks contributed to the decision to part ways with the South Australian player. Emmett did find success at the state level, playing 28 games for Peel Thunder in the WAFL and winning a premiership in 2024.

Joe Brierty, Fremantle’s Executive General Manager of Football, expressed empathy for the 22-year-old. He stated, “It is always a tough time of year confirming the final spots on our list and farewelling quality people like Tom. We thank him for his contributions both on and off the field and wish him the best for his future endeavors.” Emmett’s departure adds him to a growing list of players, including Matt Taberner, Ethan Hughes, Conrad Williams, and Sebit Kuek, who have also been released from the club.

Max Knobel, who was picked just after Emmett at Pick 42 in the same draft, has yet to make his debut but has shown promise as a developing ruckman. Despite being delisted, he will have the opportunity to be re-selected by the club in the rookie draft. Brierty acknowledged Knobel’s potential, noting, “Max is continuing to develop his ruck craft, and he has taken steps forward this year in all aspects of his footy. We believe his football will only continue to improve in 2025.”

Odin Jones, selected with Pick 5 in last year’s Rookie Draft, has made a positive impression during his time at the club and will be given another season to prove himself. Brierty remarked, “Odin arrived at the Club after only one year of colts footy and has continued to improve in a professional environment. We appreciate his competitive nature and look forward to seeing what he can achieve with a full pre-season.”

As the Dockers prepare for the upcoming Telstra AFL Draft, which will take place on November 20 and 21, they currently hold picks 14, 30, and 67. These changes mark a pivotal moment for Fremantle as they look to strengthen their roster and set a solid foundation for the future.
