A significant trade deal involving Collingwood, Port Adelaide, and Gold Coast is reportedly in the works, potentially reshaping the player dynamics in the upcoming AFL season. This proposed transaction could see multiple players and draft picks exchanged among the clubs, creating exciting possibilities for all parties involved.

Discussions have been ongoing about the futures of players Joe Richards, John Noble, Jack Lukosius, and Daniel Houston. Richards has expressed a desire to join Port Adelaide, while Noble is eyeing a move to Queensland. In contrast, Lukosius is looking to leave Gold Coast for Port, and Houston has attracted interest from Collingwood, Carlton, and North Melbourne as he seeks a new home in Victoria.

The potential trade could satisfy the aspirations of all three clubs by facilitating the movement of players and draft picks. Reports suggest that Houston has a growing preference for a transfer to Collingwood, which may prompt an agreement that benefits all involved. If Houston’s desire aligns with Collingwood’s plans, this could pave the way for Port Adelaide to successfully acquire both Lukosius and Richards.

Currently, Collingwood is attempting to negotiate a trade that would send their 2025 first-round pick along with Noble to Gold Coast in exchange for Picks 13 and 23. However, this offer has been turned down by the Suns. The Magpies are keen to use Pick 13 in a deal with Port Adelaide for Richards to secure Houston, though that proposal may not fully satisfy Port’s demands.

For the trade to go through smoothly, additional picks may need to be included, especially since both Gold Coast and Port Adelaide have specific needs. Port Adelaide would prefer not to part with their future first-round pick to acquire Lukosius, as they anticipate receiving substantial value from Houston’s potential departure. Additionally, they require league approval to trade their 2025 first-round selection due to not utilizing an early draft pick in the past two seasons.

Complicating matters further, the Suns are also negotiating with Richmond regarding a potential trade for Daniel Rioli, which may also involve Pick 23. Richmond is expected to secure a high draft pick for Rioli, but they are interested in acquiring additional selections, which adds layers to the already intricate negotiations between the clubs.
