Former AFL player Jez McLennan is set to join Port Adelaide’s SANFL lineup for the 2025 season, enhancing the team’s defensive and midfield options. McLennan arrives at Alberton after a successful stint with Central District, taking advantage of new SANFL regulations that permit AFL clubs to recruit up to four players aged 21 and older.

At just 24, McLennan has already made a significant impact, earning the Fos Williams Medal twice in 2024 while representing South Australia. His performances included a standout game where he recorded 24 disposals and eight marks during a victory over the VFL in April. He later followed this with another impressive outing, amassing 25 disposals and seven marks in a dominant 63-point win against the WAFL.

Having been a first-round draft pick for Gold Coast in 2018, McLennan brings four years of professional experience to his new club. Throughout his career with the Suns, he participated in 31 VFL and 14 NEAFL games before returning to Centrals to compete in SANFL over the past two seasons. In 2024, he maintained impressive averages of 18.3 disposals, 5.5 marks, and 3.3 tackles, earning a place in The Advertiser’s SANFL team of the year as a half-back.

Excited about this new chapter, McLennan expressed his enthusiasm for playing with Port Adelaide
