Everton transfer update emerges from MSP Sports Capital investment timeline
There appears to be “no hard and fast” timeline on a deal that would see US investment fund MSP Sports Capital take a stake in the club and two seats on the board, according
to iNews.
According to the UK online publication (17 August), there was a hope within both parties that a deal could be agreed to offer certainty to the club’s finances during the summer transfer window.
But with the market nearing an end and Everton’s position looking clearer after a number of departures, there appears to be no timeline on any 25% takeover deal being completed, even after Farhad Moshiri and
MSP entered into an exclusivity agreement [Daily Mail, 23 May] a few months ago.
However, despite unity being placed on the pitch following Sean Dyche’s work so far, there still remains plenty of discontent about Everton’s direction off of it.
Taking too long
Indeed, given Everton’s recent business both in incomings and outgoings, there’s no need for fresh investment on the transfer front with just under two weeks to go of the summer window.
Dyche has indeed provided a lot of clarity on the pitch in recent months and the signings of the likes of Youssef Chermiti, Arnau Danjuma, Ashley Young and Jack Harrison certainly point to a change of direction
at Goodison Park.
But, as iNews suggests, there still remains uncertainty and discontent off the pitch in regard to this incredibly long takeover situation.
When news emerged regarding Moshiri entering into an exclusivity agreement in May, the club’s situation and direction off the pitch looked to have become clearer but there has been no definitive movement since
then which leaves plenty of the Everton support guessing.
It’s believed that sources close to the US fund feel there is genuine excitement among the partners about future involvement in Everton [iNews, 17 August], but the club fans certainly won’t be believing those
reports until they see it as clear as day.
