According to Frank Seravalli, Schultz remains the most sought-after free agent, attracting multiple contract offers. In contrast, Mark Giordano has also generated interest from several clubs, while Tony DeAngelo and Kevin Shattenkirk seem to be struggling to find potential suitors.
Notably, the Edmonton Oilers had considered bringing Schultz, Shattenkirk, and Giordano in for tryout contracts. Ultimately, however, they opted for Travis Dermott, likely in a bid to develop younger talent. Schultz launched his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2012-13 season and quickly earned a reputation as a skilled puck-moving defenseman. While it’s premature to declare the careers of DeAngelo and Shattenkirk over, their prospects appear dim as training camps commence. The chances of signing with a team diminish significantly at this stage of the offseason. Although late-season additions are still possible, especially in the event of preseason injuries, the outlook for these veteran defensemen remains uncertain.
