Vincent Angelini, a former Celtic academy player and grandson of the club’s legendary figure David Hay, has made an unexpected move to the Saudi Pro League. This transfer comes after a challenging period away from his boyhood club, with Angelini having left Celtic two years ago.

The young goalkeeper initially joined Watford’s youth setup at just 17 years old but struggled to secure a spot in the first team. After a brief stint at Brentford, where he faced similar challenges, Angelini is now set to embark on a new chapter with Al-Riyadh SC. The Saudi Pro League club, which finished 14th in their debut season after promotion from the second tier, has offered Angelini a two-year contract.

Managed by Sabri Lamouchi, a former Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City boss, Al-Riyadh SC currently features no other British players aside from ex-Burnley and Watford forward Andre Gray. Gray made a notable impact last season with seven goals in 26 appearances.

Angelini has expressed enthusiasm about his new opportunity, sharing his excitement on Instagram: “Excited for this new chapter, ready to get to work!” This move represents a significant step for the young goalkeeper as he seeks to establish himself in professional football.
