Despite having one of England’s most successful youth systems, the West Midlands team frequently has the option to part ways with their own potential.
To help Villa stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability restrictions, Aaron Ramsey, Finn Azaz, Jaden Philogene, Omari Kellyman, Keinan Davis, and Cameron Archer have all been sold since the summer of 2023.
There has been a standard procedure followed by those in the background when handling interest in signing such individuals, even though some of those players have since rejoined the team as a result of stipulations added to their individual contracts.
The decision to sell every prospect at the first chance does not seem to have been made by Villa’s higher authorities, though.
Bogarde’s only experience playing for Villa currently came in the storied FA Cup third round match against Liverpool in 2021, when Villa had double digits of players out due to coronavirus-related absences.
Bogarde participated for 65 minutes in that match, which Liverpool won 4-1. Since then, the defensive-minded midfield player has been on loan at Bristol Rovers twice.
Between his two stints with the League One team, he made a total of 36 appearances, getting crucial game time before playing with Villa’s Under-21 team for the second half of the previous season.
Bogarde, who has one cap for the Netherlands Under-20s, is eager for Villa to keep him on after the forthcoming season.
