The whole crowd at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles laughed out loud when Serena Williams, the ESPYs presenter on Thursday night, took a jab at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker.
The occasion arose during a program honoring women’s athletics that featured Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams.
“So, go ahead and enjoy women’s sports like you would any other sports, because they are sports,” Williams stated.
Serena Williams responded to Butker quickly after he went viral in May for declaring at Benedictine College’s commencement that being a “homemaker” is “one of the most important titles” a woman can hold. Serena Williams remarked, “Well, except you, Harrison Butker.” “We don’t need you.”
