After Kylian Mbappe’s eagerly anticipated arrival was confirmed earlier in June, Real Madrid is anticipated to add at least one more player this summer. There’s a good chance a defender will sign, with Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro the front-runners.

Given that Davies’ circumstances have become more complicated over the past few weeks, it appears more likely now that Yoro will be joining. The 23-year-old is still expected to sign with Real Madrid, which is wonderful news for them, though it’s unclear when he will relocate to the Spanish city.

According to Diario AS, Davies has terminated his contract negotiations with Bayer Munich. This implies that he will depart in 2025 for no money, or for a lesser sum in 2024. In the upcoming weeks, Real Madrid intends to test the market with a bid that doesn’t go over €30 million.

If Bayern lose Davies this summer, they will expect more, but Real Madrid is willing to wait until 2025 to acquire their player at no cost. Ferland Mendy will continue to be the starting left back in that scenario, with Fran Garcia serving as backup. In fact, some board members think the Frenchman is better than Davies, but Carlo Ancelotti believes the two can play together in the same team.

It will be interesting to see if Bayern sells Davies to them or if they wait until the summer in the remote hopes that he will agree to a new deal. Real Madrid should feel at ease with the situation.
