GOOD NEWS:LUTON CONFIRM MANAGER, HAS SIGNED A NEW 4-YEAR CONTRACT
Rob Edwards, the manager of Luton Town’s first team, has inked a new four-year deal, the club has confirmed.
The 41-year-old Edwards has formally signed a new contract at Kenilworth Road that will keep him affiliated with the Hatters through the summer of 2028.
The agreement, which he signed when he first joined the team in the 2022–2023 season and was supposed to last until 2026, is now superseded.
The Welshman, who coached Watford and Forest Green Rovers before taking over Luton in the Premier League, gained recognition for leading Luton into the league despite Luton’s relegation. He had previously played for Aston Villa, Blackpool, and Wolves.
Edwards expressed his happiness to confirm his extension to remain with the team on the official Luton Town website.
He also stated that he wanted to attempt to help the team rise to the challenge of making a comeback to the Championship.
“I’m really pleased,” he declared. I’ve never had more fun in my working career than I have in the last eighteen months. There have been highs and, to be honest, lows. However, I can’t wait to extend our visit.
It was always certain, but now that we’ve all got a taste of it, it’s wonderful that we can all agree on where we want to go.”To be honest, I know it’s still very raw since it doesn’t seem like that long ago, but the fans did the talking for us right after that game.
I feel incredibly determined to get us moving again. Ever since, all I could think was, “Well, we have to pay that back.”
After moving to Luton in November 2022, Edwards led the Hatters to a third-place Championship result and a play-off victory.
Gary Sweet, the CEO of Luton Town, expressed his happiness at Edwards’ contract extension.
“The board and I are thrilled that Rob has committed to the Club for the long term,” he stated. Watching the squad grow under his direction has delighted us all.
“Normally, relegation results in drastic changes, but at Luton Town, we operate differently and have seen growth.”
Since the end of the season, securing Rob has been our top priority since it allows for his ongoing development on and off the field.
Everyone who works with him, including the athletes, benefits from stability brought about by the contract’s duration.
“There’s a strong cultural fit. He just gets Luton—as a community and as a club—and has been the ideal representative.
“Everyone, including Rob and his staff, supporters, and the boardroom, shares equal ambition and is excited about this fantastic development.”
