Soto Still Available For Phillies After Yankees Trade Talks

Soto Still Available For Phillies After Yankees Trade Talks | Yardbarker

There’s a lot of speculation surrounding what the Philadelphia Phillies are going to do the rest of this offseason.

They already accomplished their No. 1 goal of getting Aaron Nola back with the team, so theoretically, they could stand pat with their roster that’s made back-to-back NLCS appearances.

However, that’s not how Dave Dombrowski has operated since taking over the Phillies.

They’ve been rumored to still be targeting other starting pitching along with bullpen help and rotational outfielders.

Perhaps due to their past history of making splashes, Philadelphia has also been linked to superstar Juan Soto in the trade market with one MLB insider thinking they could be in the running to pull off the blockbuster move.

If they are interested in doing that, they got some good news regarding the Soto sweepstakes as apparent talks between the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees have broken down.

This comes after the Padres had a ridiculous asking price that would have completely depleted the Yankees’ farm system of top talent.

If that’s the type of package that San Diego is looking to get back in return for a player that is potentially a one-year rental before hitting free agency after the season, they’ll have a tough time moving him and the Phillies won’t interested.

But, if the market stays stagnant, this could be the opening that Philadelphia is looking for to get themselves into the trade conversations to land Soto.

As of now, there’s been no report that’s indicated Dombrowski and his front office have reached out to the Padres and inquired about what type of package they’re looking to receive from the Phillies, but the stalled conversations with the Yankees could buy them some time.
