£34m Everton man has already said he loves working with Premier League boss, amid reports of potential reunion

Fulham have emerged as candidates to sign Everton ace Alex Iwobi this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Fulham have identified Alex Iwobi as a target, and may launch a bid for the Everton man before the transfer window closes.

Marco Silva is looking to bolster his Fulham squad following the recent departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic. Iwobi is a player that Silva knows well, from his time in charge of Everton, and clearly believes that the 27-year-old has the ability to make an impact at Craven Cottage.

Everton may well be reluctant to let Iwobi leave Goodison Park, though. The 63-cap Nigeria international is a key figure for the Toffees, and his versatility and work rate make him a very useful player in Sean Dyche’s squad.

However, Iwobi may well be tempted by the move to west London. Fulham seem less likely to be dragged into a relegation scrap this season, on top of which, the midfielder would have the chance to work with Silva again.

Iwobi could be tempted away from Everton by Silva

Iwobi has previously gone on record about how much he enjoyed working with Silva when the Portuguese coach was in charge at Everton. In fact, Silva was at the helm when the Merseyside outfit shelled out £34 million to prise Iwobi away from Arsenal. However, the manager would go on to be sacked just a few months after the player’s arrival.

It is easy to see why a reunion with Silva at Fulham would appeal to Iwobi. The player discussed his time under Silva at Everton on Kammy & Ben’s Proper Football Podcast in March, saying, “he was good, he was very good. He likes to play football, he’s very ambitious and he’s actually the reason I came to Everton because he called me and he said that we believe in you and in the qualities and the capabilities I was able to bring. He made me feel very comfortable…he was a good manager for me.”

Silva may well be putting a similar message to Iwobi, about how he could flourish at Fulham, now. The player will surely be tempted, given he has been lured to a club by this coach before.

It will come as a major blow to Everton if he does leave. Iwobi was ever-present in the Premier League last season, making 38 appearances. His departure would leave a huge hole in the squad, with little time left for Dyche to plug it.
